1. BDSM und Feminismus
Mit diesem Beitrag nehmen wir noch einmal den Themenkomplex Postmoderne, Sexualität, Körper wieder auf: Anna Kow (u.a. Zeitschrift „Die Krake“) referiert in ihrem Vortrag, den sie am 11.07.2011 im Rahmen der Polyphantasiatage der Gruppe Wider die Natur gehalten hat, über die Rolle von BDSM in den feministischen Diskursen, zwischen „sex-negativem-“ und Pro-Sex-Feminismus. Sie selbst verteidigt BDSM als lustvolle und subversive Praxis. Bei ihrem Vortrag stand ein BDSM-Glossar zur Verfügung, welches hier angesehen werden kann. Die im Vortrag gezeigten Musik-Videos können hier und hier angesehen werden. In ihrem zugrundeliegenden Text „Gefährliches Vergnügen: Sex und Feminismus. Ein Abriss“ aus der Outside The Box #1 bezieht sich Anna Kow u.a. auf das Kontrasexuelle Manifest von Beatriz Preciado, welches Magnus Klaue in seinem Vortrag kritisiert hatte. Feminismus und Sexualität verbindet eine eher sprunghafte Beziehung voller Missverständnisse. Der radikale Feminismus der 1970er hat Sexualität vor allem als patriarchales Machtinstrument kritisiert. 30 Jahre später diskutieren Aktivist_innen die Potentiale queerer Pornographie und fordern „Schwänze für Alle“. Anna Kow stellt das widersprüchliche Verhältnis dar und plädiert für einen sex-positiven Feminismus, der sich BDSM als subversive Praxis kritisch aneignet. Dass gleichwohl der sexistische Normalzustand anzuprangern ist – und demzufolge kein queerer Freifahrtschein für Heterosexismus zu erwarten ist – sollte klar sein. [via]

2. BDSM and politcal correctness
Carl Smith talks about BDSM in a speech he held in March 26th in 2009 in Vienna, organized as a part of the series „Just Sex“ by Basisgruppe Politikwissenschaft. He talks about BDSM (as well as other forms of sexuality that diverge from the norm) and its history from the 19th century, then follows the appearance and reception of BDSM in popular culture throughout the 20th century along many examples in movies and music. He also mentions HIV and the ressentiments against homosexuals that were aroused through the disease. Sadly, the clips from movies (Lawrence From Arabia (1962), Morocco (1930)) and music videos that he shows can’t be seen, as this is only an audio track. Among the persons he talks about are, besides of course Marquis de Sade, Leopold von Sacher-Masoch, Marlene Dietrich, Mishima Yukio, Larry Townsend and many more.
What is BDSM and what does it stand for and how does it challenge Political Correctness? How does a relationship between a Master and a Slave work? What could a BDSM-scene look like? This lecture will not only answer the above questions but will try to overcome some common stereotypes associated with BDSM. [via]
